Play-based Childcare for Ages 2-4
At Riverside Playgroup we believe children learn best through play. Established over 30 years ago, our playgroup takes a holistic approach to childcare, where children can foster curiosity, creativity and thrive in a fun and nurturing environment, supported by our compassionate teachers throughout their early years and their transition into primary school.
We value the unique personalities of each of our children, supporting their intellectual, social and emotional development as individuals whilst promoting a strong sense of community. Based in York House Gardens, we have ample space for children to explore the outside world, engage in a range of activities and games, play alongside others and develop skills to prepare them for school age learning.

Our Approach
We believe in a play-based approach led by the children, allowing them to learn and develop at their own pace, exploring their individual interests whilst playing alongside others. We provide a range of age-appropriate themed projects and activities in our curriculum, designed to build their knowledge of the world around them and engage in a community environment. We also have an extensive collection of toys and games of all types, a ballpit and large garden with ample outside equipment - our children never get bored!

Our Atmosphere
We strive to create a warm, supportive atmosphere where children of all personalities, backgrounds and abilities can feel comfortable during their time with us. Parents are more than welcome to bring their children for visiting and taster sessions, and when enrolled have the option to stay to ensure children can get settled in.

Hours of Operation
We are open at the following times:
Monday: 9:00am - 3:35pm
Tuesday: 9:00am - 12:05pm
Wednesday: 9:00 - 12:05pm
Thursday: 9:00am - 3:35pm
Mondays and Thursdays run both a morning and afternoon session, whilst Tuesdays and Wednesdays are morning only. Please contact for more information about fees and funding.
